Раніше Томас публічно розповів про свій ВІЛ-позитивний статус. Він розмістив в Twitter відео, в якому розповів, що хворіє вже багато років, але боявся відкрито про це говорити.
Він також повідомив, що протягом багатьох років отримував погрози від людей, які хотіли видати його таємницю і був близький до самогубства, але зміг прийняти факт хвороби і продовжити жити далі.
